The floating shelf support rods by Federal Brace come in two lengths for varying depths of floating shelves and are available in unfinished steel or powder coated black finishes. These rods can be used to create your own completely floating shelf. Each rod will have a carrying capacity of 50 pounds, and we recommend not exceeding this weight to avoid seeing any deflection in your installation.
The 1/2" rod has a mounting plate that is 1.75" x 1.5" for installing into each stud. Rods should be fastened to a stud every 16" for the length of your shelf. The shelf must not exceed 2" deeper than the end of the rod to avoid seeing deflection.
The floating shelf support rods come in raw steel or black finish. Please keep in mind that if you have selected the steel finish, it will corrode over time if not painted; however, if you selected the powder coat finish, no additional protection is needed.
Holes are 0.25". The mounting plate itself is 1.5" high and 1.75" wide and will need space to accommodate the plate for a hidden floating application. Sizes: 6", 10"
