• White oak is mostly straight-grained with a medium to coarse texture, with longer rays than red oak, therefore, it has more figure
• Sapwood is light-colored; heartwood is grayish to light and dark brown
• Heavy, somewhat greater than red oak
• Heartwood pores are usually plugged with tyloses, which tend to make the wood impenetrable by liquids - good decay resistance
