The 3M Scotch-Briteâ„¢ 5" No Hole Non-Woven Sanding Disc is designed for aggressive stock removal while providing durability and resisting loading, making it suitable for a variety of applications on both wood and metal. This disc is recommended for wide belt sanding, edge sanding, or portable belt sanding operations. The fast-cutting aluminum oxide abrasive grains are resin-bonded to a durable X-weight cotton cloth backing, which ensures continuous cut and long-life performance. Additionally, the washable backing is ideal for high production environments where frequent cleaning may be necessary to remove soft wood resin or pitch buildup.
Available in a range of sizes and splices, 3M offers a broad selection of abrasive belts that fit most any industrial belt sander. Wider belts are used with wide belt sanders for dimensioning or finishing wood panels, smoothing rough cut edges on metal sheets, or adding a grain pattern to stainless steel sheets. Medium-width belts are suitable for edge sanders when working on flat, narrow surfaces such as panel edges; and narrower belts can be utilized with portable belt sanders for tasks involving wooden pieces like cabinet doors.
A film media splice achieves a secure bond with a joining film that minimizes chatter marks, ensuring a smooth running belt and consistent finishing results. A sine wave splice is constructed of interlocking fingers that enable the splice to travel smoothly over contact wheels, reducing hinging and providing added strength in the joint area. Sine wave splices are typically used for coarser grades and wide belts as well as on belts intended to be washed.
